Hilda Garmany Stewart, Director of Ministry
For decades Hilda guided people into a more intimate and personal relationship with Jesus. She has served as a pastor, chaplain, youth pastor, Bible teacher, and retreat leader. She also served as a director of several ministries while simultaneously embracing the title of single Mom. In 1992, she founded and directed a church based preschool and worked cooperatively with the county special education department.
In the midst of her busy schedule, Hilda found herself suffering with a number of severe illnesses. The medical community was unable to offer her any hope for healing. They merely helped her treat symptoms. Hilda began to cry out to God for answers. He not only heard her, but graciously led her down a path that brought about healing for all, save one, of her 13 diseases. Today she is healthy and well, living a vibrant abundant life.
In 2005 Hilda answered God's call to begin a ministry to women in order to "comfort those in any trouble with the comfort she herself had received from God" 2 Cor. 1:4. She founded Cheerful Hearts Ministry and is currently serving as the Director. She ministers to woman of all ages, walking alongside them as they grow in their relationship with Christ.
Perhaps her greatest honor has been to be the mother of Brooke and Brent, who, in her opinion, are both incredible people. Brent is married to Kelly and all three of the young people in her life are attending college full time, enjoying life, and their journey with God. Hilda is now joyfully married to Michael Stewart. Brent is currently serving God as a youth pastor and Kelly is beginning a teaching career. Brooke is a rising senior at UGA. Michael and Hilda live in the country and spend their spare time working on their old farm home and swinging down by the water.
When the Lord began to give Hilda Cheerful Heart ministry names, He did not overlook her. The name given her was Compassion. Compassion according to the dictionary is, "The ability to enter into, understand, or share somebody else's feelings, often including a desire to help." From an early age the God given gift of compassion has been operating in Hilda in an ever increasing way. As a child, it was a common sight for her to be helping other children learn to tie their shoes, comforting a crying soul alone on a playground, sharing the new thing she had learned with another and, to her parents chagrin, giving away her coat to another who did not have one. In her more recent years however, through a series of demanding events, Hilda saw that God was the answer for all human needs. He invited her to embark on a journey, guiding women to a place of intimacy with Him where they could find the love and power that would overcome all of life’s circumstances. With that gift of compassion resident within her, she answered the call to be part of reaching out to lift women higher… in order to experience the depths of God’s love. As she answers this call, she goes higher and deeper than she ever knew possible and hopes the height and depth never ceases.
Deborah Williamson, Ministry Assistant
Her heartbeat is for women to know the depths of God's love for them, that they are no longer who they were before. She desires women to know that they have been set free from their past and have a completely new identity. They are not a sum total of where they have been, what they have done, what they have achieved, or what they have failed to accomplish. They are now free to 'twirl' in abandonment. The restraints have been removed in Christ; sins are forgiven and all things have become new.
In 2006, the Lord gave Hilda a Cheerful Hearts Ministry name for Deborah. The name was Beauty. Each ministry name reveals a gift that the Lord has given to that individual. A gift meant to encourage and strengthen that very virtue in others. Psalms 27:4 says, "One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek Him in His temple." While Deborah has a gift of physical beauty, it pales in comparison to the Beauty of the Lord that He is revealing through her. We have heard it said, "that which we focus on grows within us." Deborah's heart desire is to focus or gaze upon her Lord Jesus and His beauty, consequentially the beauty of His holiness flourishes within her. She indeed seeks Him in His dwelling place and abides there with Him. As she increasingly rests, the Beauty of His Holiness supersedes her natural beauty. When ladies begin to know His beauty and holiness within them, they will begin to experience the depths of His love while profoundly reflecting His beauty. And that aspect alone will lift women higher.
Julie Meyers, Admin Assistant
Julie Grew up knowing about God and had invited Him into her life as a young girl. But, she knew nothing about a relationship with Jesus - something she is now enjoying! Originally from Michigan, later moving to Chicago, she met her wonderful husband of 20 years, Tom Meyers. Julie has stated, “I thought I had a good life, but I didn’t have a clue what was about to happen to me the day I attended that first Christmas Tea.” God turned my life upside down and inside out. Since Julie’s initial encounter with CHM, she has attended all the retreats offered by Cheerful Hearts and has completed their 3 day intensive Heart to Heart prayer ministry. Julie has been a faithful servant volunteering where ever she is needed. In fact, last September Julie was hired as our first administrative assistant and is an integral part of the CHM team.
Each team member has a name describing a God given gift for encouraging and lifting others. Julie’s name is Joy…if you know her….you know how that JOY shines like sunshine. You will find her at the other end of our telephone line, more than willing to assist you.
Julie says before her encounter with Cheerful Hearts she had no meaningful relationships with women. She has a real desire to see the hearts of women healed and whole, leading to real intimacy with Jesus and other women who love Jesus!
Judith Zimmerman Malamy, ANNA Lead Intercessor
At 45, Judith attended Adelphi College in New York. She received a BS in social work and subsequently worked with women and teens at three hospital’s in the New York area; South Oak’s, Lenox Hill and New York Hospital.
As Judith matures in her identity in Christ, her love, hunger and thirst for the Lord continues to grow, as does her desire for a deeper relationship with Him. Judith’s vision is to see women become free in mind, body and spirit from all strongholds, past and present. Judith desire for others is the same she has for herself: to soar like the eagles!
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” Jesus spoke these words to His disciples in the midst of life’s circumstances. The ministry name given to Judith is peace. His peace is not affected in our lives by our circumstances. Judith is displaying His peace in new and exciting ways as never before. As His peace continues to manifest in Judith's life, it will erupt from within her, comforting and encouraging others. His peace is beautiful on Judith.
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted
and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.
